VERSE OF THE DAY
11 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
Are you content in any situation you face? Paul knew how to be content, whether he had much or little. The secret was Christ’s power in his life. Do you have great needs? Or are you discontented because you don’t have what you want? Learn to rely on God’s promises and Christ’s power to help you be content. If you always want more, ask God to remove that desire and teach you contentment in every situation. He will supply all your needs, but in a way that he knows is best for you.
Paul was content because he could see life from God’s point of view. He focused on what he was to do, not what he felt he should have. He had his priorities straight and was grateful for everything God has given him. Often the desires for more or better possessions is really a longing to fill an empty place in one’s life. To what are you drawn when you feel empty inside? How can you find the true contentment? The answer lies in your perspective, your priorities, and your source of power, trust God.
Father God in heaven thank you for all situation in my life, you are the God who is in control of everything. Help me to be contented for what I have and to be thankful even for what I do not have. You are our great provider and you provide all our needs according to your riches and glory. Guard my heart Lord to always be contented. I know that I can do this through Christ who gives me strength. In Jesus name we pray. Amen
